The country itself was the witness to the introduction of human civilization and hence does not need much of an introduction. The country has deserts, valleys, rivers, oases, Mediterranean Beaches and the remains of a stunning civilization to make it one of the mostly frequently visited destination for the tourists . Egypt is located in the northeastern Africa with Cairo being the capital.

 

Egypt is best known for the ancient Egyptian civilization with the pyramids, temples, hieroglyphs and mummies.  The pyramids of Giza is undoubtedly one of the biggest architectural feat of man and is the number one attraction for the visitors .There are three main pyramids in Giza, each of them is a tomb to a different  Egyptian king .The Sphinx is an enormous cat like structure carved out of a single stone and has been mesmerizing the travelers through ages .Abu Simbel is the most recognized monument of  ancient Egypt situated right next to the pyramids. The two temples were built for pharaoh Ramesses II and have been a major tourist attraction for many years .The spectacular temples of Karnack should not be missed too. This is a gigantic complex comprising of pylons, kiosks, sanctuaries and obelisks dedicated to Theban Gods. The Valley of the Kings is the place where the pharaohs were buried. This is the place where the famous tomb of Tutankhamen was found in 1920.The visitors are allowed to go inside the tomb but the treasures he was buried with have all been taken to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. There are many more tombs to explore in the Valley of the Kings. The Egyptian Museum in Cairo is one of the largest museums in the world and has more than 1,20,000 artifacts displaying the glorious reign of ancient Egypt .This is certainly your dream place if you always wanted to see mummies , sarcophagi , pottery or jewelry . The second most popular tourist attraction in Egypt is the Nile cruise. Take a Felucca and sail down the river Nile .Felucca is a sailboat and is extremely popular in this region. The longer cruises generally start from Aswan. You can also take short sunset sails in Cairo or Alexandria. In the western desert close to the Libyan border is the Siwa Oasis. This Oasis is well known for its natural beauty and hot springs .This ancient Egyptian town is the ideal place to relax. You have to come to Hurghada if you want to witness world’s clearest marine water and spectacular coral reefs .Hurghada, on the Red sea has a 10-mile long beach with plenty of accommodations, nightclubs, restaurants and diving centers. Viewing of hundreds of colorful fishes along the shore is a special attraction in Hurghada.   If you want, you can also enjoy the camel ride with the Bedouins here. Sharm el-Sheikh is a hugely popular resort town in Sinai Peninsula and is one of the best sites for scuba diving in the world. Among the other places Lake Nasser and Gilf Kebir must be mentioned.
