India’s Nuclear Capability?
How India diverted resources from feeding their population to gaining nuclear capability.
This is imparting a reflex to the rumoured security that comes with a country’s nuclear capability. The idea of matching up with countries such as the U.S, Russia and China ensures the security of the Indian people if their welfare were ever to be threatened. This also translates into illustrating the growth of India over the past decade from a third- world country to a second-world power. In a way this is a source of patriotism and national pride among Indians. Knowing that they are a near equal power with the likes of the U.S and Russia. The sacrifice of one generation to advocate the growth of future generations is somewhat debatable. However it directly translates into the cultivation of the Indian economy. One must look at the long-term aspects of a decision with such potential in order to ensure the well-being and growth of the country over-time. Such a move will surely protect India from harms way but there are also several other positive implications that are brought on by the decision to divert resources to nuclear capability. Such implications would include the ability to harvest nuclear power which is a huge benefactor in India’s future. This one implication will become far more important in the near future as alternative methods of creating energy are required. Overall the decision to divert resources from feeding the population to security and alternative energy is a good one. It all depends upon who it is looked upon by. In a more political way it is a good decision but in a humanitarian way it is definitely a bad move that will cost thousands of lives. When thinking about this, the positives are all long term and the negatives will have an immediate effect, therefore it can go either way.
