Industrial Revolution: An New Era in The Industrial World
A short informative text about the Industrial Revolution.
The third are which the industrial revolution affected the most was the use of iron and steel manufacturing. The iron industry went many steps ahead and iron and steel production became a lot easier and faster. These metals replaced wood as the main source for building stuff and many new things were made only from them. This also affected the machine tool production that had to be increased do to the massive growth in their need, and thanks to these metals the tools were much longer lasting and stronger. This was really good for the economy and for the whole trade, since many new items were able to be made and the quality of items improved a lot since the metals provided a lot better building material for these items.
Railways were built all around which leaded in a lot faster transportation which really helped the way citizens could move around to their work and other places. This is probably one of the other most significant steps forward since it had a massive effect on the whole economy and people were able to travel so much easier and better to other locations. Also, new jobs opened for unemployed people thanks to the need of them in the trains and the railway stations etc, and personally I can’t se any major negative sides of railways.
There were also other smaller and less meaningful developments that still had some impact. Transportation was increased more by the mass building of more coastal sail, canals and ordinary roads. Gas lighting (William Murdoch) which for example helped some factories stay open longer with oil or tallow candles. Some political issues occurred and conflicts were built which sometimes lead into some bigger problems, but all in all they didn’t do any severe damage.
Because of these all new improvements, life after the revolution generally became a little bit easier since many food was able to be transported faster, clothes were able to made better, iron and steel items were higher quality and did all the jobs better and the whole economy went ahead. Many people started to get more children and thanks to the improvement in living standards, many of these children lived longer than many did before that. Of course, many people still suffered from the small amount of wealth and housing, but some people did really gain a lot from this revolution. This all especially led into a massive growth in people in for example England where it actually leads into some social problems later on. Even though some problems might have occurred, I still think that it was incredible that this revolution had actually a visible effect on the living standards and is probably one of the biggest pros of the whole revolution. Another social effect was the laws that started to stop child labour, which eventually grew smaller a little by little.
In total, the Industrial Revolution was a huge step ahead and as you can clearly see, it really helped a lot of people as individuals and as a whole. If you had to think whether the industrial revolution changed the world, the answer would a definite yes. So many of the developments made peoples life easier and even though some negative things occurred, the industrial revolution was something we could not have afforded to miss.
