Industrial Revolution

The Industrial Revolution was a time of great change.

There were many bad problems that occurred such as child labor and poor working conditions. But many life changing inventions were created that are still used today. That’s why I believe that the positive outweighed the negative.

The negative of the revolution was defiantly rectories and the working conditions. To begin with children as young as five were working thirteen hour days. People got very little food if any and were lucky to get a break. Children were paid two schillings which was almost nothing for the labor they were contributing. Now if that isn’t bad enough the combination acts were passed which made it illegal for workers to go on strike. Now you might be wondering how all this negative can possibly be outweighed by the positive, and I have one word for this question, inventions. There were many famous inventors of the industrial revolution but I believe that Thomas Edison and Henry Bessemer contributed the most. Thomas Edison invented the phonograph and improved the telephone one of today’s most used inventions. But Thomas’s main invention was the light bulb. The light bulb is a huge part of society today.

hiJust about anywhere you look there is a light bulb. The second inventor was Henry Bessemer who made a machine that produced 30 tons of high grade steel in thirty minutes. Henry also created a artillery shell that was way more accurate than a normal old cannon ball. Without steel or light bulbs, even the telephone life would be very different. That is why the revolution is and was a positive event in history.
