Industrialization and Now
A five page essay on industrialization and how it affects us today.
From the first thread spun by a Spinning Jenny to the millionth lead contaminated children’s toy, industrialization has molded our society. Whatever it has become is totally up to interpretation. But what’s certain is that we have firmly rooted ourselves in capitalism and consumerism to the point where we have a need to be materialistic to keep our economy running. It is very easy to take for granted everything sacrificed and the things that people are still sacrificing to keep things the way they are now. If you have read the Jungle, it is safe to say that anybody would be horrified to find out if that those events still happen today. Even if we do not find rats in our sausages, or diseased meat in our food supply, people are still suffering a great deal. Question is, will we keep consuming, or will this luxury consume us?
