Investigation of Suspicious Shooting Near The White House

Washington police received reports of gunfire near the residence of U.S. President Barack Obama, who is in Hawaii at the APEC Summit.

An alleged shooting occurred Friday night near the White House is under investigation by the Washington police, said NBC.

The Park Police received calls from witnesses shortly after 21:30 local, who said they heard gunshots and seeing two cars running at high speed on the Constitution Avenue in the heart of the capital.

The alleged shooting occurred near 16th Street, between the White House and Washington Monument, and forced the closure of the Constitution Avenue between Calle 15, 17 and 23. According to initial reports, it appears that the presidential mansion were the objective of the suspects.

One of the suspects vehicle, a Honda, was found shortly afterwards and the police seized an assault rifle AK-47, but no wounded or arrested.

U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife are in town. Both are in Hawaii, officiating host APEC summit of leaders from Asia and the Pacific.
