After descending to the deepest point on Earth, the Mariana Trench, and record in situ beauty, National Geographic will premiere on Wednesday, April 11-awaited documentary in which James Cameron returns to dive in search of the Titanic .
The National Geographic Society and National Geographic Channel have announced joint initiatives that will put in place by the Centenary of the sinking of the legendary liner, which will be reflected both in the antenna of the channel as in all divisions of the Company, including NG Magazine.
This special program, which includes three documentaries, two with Cameron and oceanographer Robert Ballard at the helm, will take place from 11 to 15 April to allow the viewer to look again into the boat, from the time it was built in the shipyards of Belfast to its present state.
Just ‘Titanic: The Final Word with James Cameron’, the first study, to be released on April 11, brings together world experts on the ship, led by Cameron, for a new forensic investigation of the remains to help obtain new conclusions about the reasons for the wreck.
With more than 30 dives behind him, director James Cameron has the support of engineers, naval architects, artists and historians to find out why the Titanic sank. The panel will delve into the reasons of the incident and provide new data obtained through the use of new technologies implemented after 1997.
This is the first time it undertakes an investigation of this magnitude on the Titanic and its conclusions will surprise many because they can alter the version of events held from April 14, 2012, as announced in a note Fox International Channel.
In the second documentary, ‘Save the Titanic with Bob Ballard’, the channel opens one day later, on April 12, the discoverer of the wreck follows in the footsteps of those responsible for navigation on that fateful trip, while helping to ensure the legacy and the place where the remains of the Titanic.
In the report, Ballard examine the ship from the point of view of those who launched a hundred years ago. Ballard will travel to Northern Ireland shipyard where the Titanic was built to track the ship since the beginning of its construction to its fate.
Throughout the process, Ballard will be guided by a single question: the Titanic survive another hundred years? The ship is threatened by environmental deterioration of the bottom of the Atlantic and the consequences of visits “unofficial” that could harm their remains. Ballard is working with the descendants of victims and survivors to protect the legacy of the most famous ship in history.
Finally, the special programming include the April 13 premiere of “Titanic: Case Closed ‘, a documentary based on the book of Britain’s Tim Maltin ‘101 Things You Thought You Knew About The Titanic … But Did not “(’101 things you thought you knew about the Titanic ‘).
In the book, the author undertakes an investigation into what caused the fatal collision with the iceberg in North Atlantic waters that cold night of April 14, 1912. The conclusion differs from the explanations offered so far, neither an error nor a failure of the captain of manufacture, but a visual effect caused by weather conditions.
