John Paul the second, was a pope of the Roman Catholic Church, born in 1920, May the 18th. He was Polish, and was pope since 1978 till 2005, where he died. He was a pope with the ability to speak: Polish, English, French, Croatian, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, Russian, Latin, German, and Italian. He was a very good and nice hearted pope. He fought against the poverty, especially.
He was sent to study Theology at Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas. Everyone liked him because he was nice and thought about everyone. Many people came to pay their respect to this holy pope at his death. Many people tried to assassinate him. Once he was shot and wounded seriously by a Turkish gunman named Mehmet Ali Ağca. The pope went very old, and when he died it was a terrible loss for the people he had helped.
