Gillard reportedly compared the difficulties faced by Obama as an African-American who led the United States. Gillard told at a fundraising event attended by cabinet members and business people in Sydney last week.
“I am good friends with Barack Obama,” he said as reported by AFP on Monday (02/04/2012).
“I told him, ‘Do you think it is difficult to be African American? Try to be me. Try to become prime minister of women who are single, no children, and atheist,” he continued in a closed-door event.
“If you judge it from the normal rules of politics, it is difficult to explain how I could become prime minister,” he continued. “It’s hard to explain how we made it through the 2010 election campaign.”
“Then I formed a government with two parties rely on a conservative independent. And it might explain How can a minority government to a major reform,” said Australia’s first female prime minister’s.
There has been no comment from the prime minister’s office about this. However, when prompted by reporters, Senator Chris Evans said the Labor Party, a statement was made as a mere joke. “Just a little joke to compare the challenges it faces in confronting President Obama,” said Evans.
“I think Julia Gillard is very heavy work, especially to manage the Australian economy,” said Evans.
