King of France view

THe glorious King of France during the time Samuel de Champlain’s settlement in Canada. His views are being expressed here.

Hello there, I welcome you to my domain in

the beautiful land France! This is a very good year, the year 1631

where I receive news from my explorer Samuel de Champlain

who will make me rich and famous while make him happy but I’ll

be rich! He gives me these wonderful or dreadful letters on how

he either succeeded or had failed ( or maybe he’s hiding it from

me?) in making money and creating colonies for France!

The first letter… The founding of Port Royal!

Founded in 1605, Business was OK but then he gave news that

business has failed and Port Royal was abandoned in 1607!

Arrgh! How could business fail just like that! He didn’t include

that in his letter. After that incident I lost hope in Samuel de

Champlain but after that the second letter came…

Quebec was founded and my hope was

renewed for a while. My trust in Champlain was tested and I wait

in anticipation for the money to pour into my treasury. Later he

informed me that the fur trade (???) was very good moneymaking

and the monopoly was founded and sealed in blood. I predict that

this fur trade has a beneficial potential and I like it! Quebec will

be a great and impregnable fortress and moneymaking post!

Fur! Fur! Fur! I love fur! Fur is so soft and yet

full of gold! ( Lots of money is being made) The fur trade can be

by far the best source of money! Since men in Europe wants to

look as manly (or handsome if they please…) by beaver fur hats,

this high demand for manliness (or handsome refining) is a

guaranteed to last a long time and makes me a lot of money!

In order to keep the citizens and the church

happy I have agreed to support the sending of Christian

missionaries to attempt to convert the savages or natives to the

way of the catholic church! But there is a huge disadvantage to

this strategy since it will of course encounter some opposition and

persecution since these barbarians like to stick to their darkened

ways. Plus it can insult them and that can be incentive to not

trade furs! But in spite of these problems we must face we must

accomplish our job to preach to the ends of the earth despite the

challenges!
