Lawsuits Filled Against Barack Obama That He Is Ineligible To Be President Due To His Citizenship Status
Under Article Two of the United States Constitution, one of the major requirements one has to have before they can be President of the United States of America is that the person should be a natural born citizen of the United States.
And as a result of this article in the constitution, many people and groups have challenged President Barack Obama’s eligibility to be President of the United States since most of them doubt his present citizenship status. Most of these groups (conspiracy theorists) have alleged that Barack Obama was born in Kenya and definitely not Hawaii in the United States. Some of these groups have also alleged that President Obama’s birth certificate which was shown to the public, indicating he was born in Hawaii is a forger and that he is actually a citizen of Indonesia where he once lived as a young child.
All these doubts about President Obama’s citizenship status have led a lot of individuals and groups to take it upon themselves to file federal lawsuits against the Barack Obama.
The state or federal lawsuits filled against Obama had the sole aim of disqualifying the President from standing or being confirmed for the most important job in America – the Presidency of the United States of America. Some other state lawsuits filled against the President sought to compel Barack Obama to release additional documentation regarding his citizenship status.
For example, on August 21, 2008, a Democrat and Pennsylvanian attorney named Philip J. Berg, filled a case against Obama. And in the complaint Philip Berg alleged that Barack Obama was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. But a U.S District court dismissed the complaint, finding that plaintiff, Berg lacked standing.
Throughout the years, there have been over a dozen other notable cases filled against Obama’s citizenship and eligibility. And by the end of 2008 it is reported that at least 17 major lawsuits had been filled challenging Barack Obama’s eligibility.
Recently, or to be more specific in July 2010, CNN conducted a poll on the issue of the Obama citizenship status and at the end of it all the results were: 16% were reported to have doubts about Obama being born in the United States. 11% said they were definitely sure he was not born in the United States.
