Life in Elizabethan Times

Life in the Elizabethan era was very different than it is today.

There were many things going on during the Elizabethan Era such as new ideas for science and technology. For education, grammar schools were available for the middle classes and with the development of printing books were easier and cheaper to get. Most of the activities for leisure time were plays that the lower classes could go to. These plays taught about the history of England. Also during this time there were explorations across the oceans into the New World. With the New World there were many lands to be claimed which increased the wealth of England. Many new foods were introduced to England such as the tomato and the turkey.

During the Elizabethan Era there were many new advances in theatre, medicine, and technology. In theatre there were famous playwrites such as William Shakespeare who created plays. In medicine, herbs were used as cures for sicknesses. In everyday life there were new ideas for science and technology that would make the world we know today more advanced.
