Like on an Indian Reservation

A summery of what it was like to be an Indian in an Indian reservation.

The way people eat on an Indian reservation was different in etch tribe. Some tribes, such as the Pueblo people used agriculture for food. Also there were meet eaters such as the Plains tribe. Some tribes used salmon for food.

They also had very different types of transportation, instead of wagons; the Plains tribe used travois’ to carry people. A travois was a sled with two long poles sticking out one side. The poles would have a harness attached to an animal and the animal would carry the people. At first they used dogs to pull them but they could only hold a very small load. Then they started using horses to pull them and they could pull a person. The houses they lived in were different for each tribe. The Algonquin tribe used wigwams made out of bark. The Sioux (soy) Indians lived in teepees made from buffalo skins. The Pueblo Indians lived in clay houses that were several story’s high. There was a casual clothes, just as today only they wore different stuff then us. On an Indian reservation the men would ware a shirt that hung over there hips , a breach cloth, leggings and moccasins.

The common woman would ware a short sleeve dress, legging and moccasins.
