Macedonia is Greek Part #1
Part 1: Macedonian names & ancient Macedonians.
“@trustmeU2needhelp Hey moron….the thing that you calling it Thessaloniki it doesn’t mean that it is real name!
NIKA was the name of the Macedonian god of winners…..and u as the rest of the world can call it like ever u like!
Another thing…..even today you are calling the other places on your name….simple example is the name of Skopje and Bitola….calling them with another names…….the truth is in front of you,you just need to wish to see it!”

For starters “NIKA” means victory or conquest in greek. Second of all Thessaloniki is it’s real name. It is translated as “Thessaly-Victory” according to dictionary30.com (the name comes from Alexander the great’s sister). But which term is older? After reading some ancient scripts I have noticed that even the Bible calls it Thessaloniki. Not Solun.
The first thing I would like to point out is that all the Macedonian names (including Macedonia) are Greek names and have a Greek meaning. Ancient Macedonians spoke Greek, believed in the Greek gods and had the same morals as other Greek tribes had.
@jouvemin190 You can see his origin in his name….ALEXANDER OF MACEDON!
Do not compare modern times with ancient ones!

You can also see that Alexander (Alexandros) is a Greek name, meaning “Defender of man”. Macedonia was a “city state” just like Athens and Sparta. The nation that calls itself today “Macedonia” has nothing in common with the ancient macedonians. They don’t even speak the same language.
Why the ancient Macedonians were Greek:
Ancient Greece was separated into multiple city states. These little states were at war with each other (in some cases formed alliances), but there were a few things which linked them together. Their language, Their religion and their morals.
Also according to historical sources the Macedonians were competing in the Olympic games. Only Greeks were allowed to participate in the Olympics.
