Malcolm X
Malcolm X was a Black leader who believed Blacks should be able to use violence to get their freedom.
Malcolm’s views of how African Americans were treated made him angry and wanted to change it. His speeches gave hope for African Americans to become equals. “Ten years ago you couldn’t have paid a Southern Negro to defy local customs. The British Lion’s tail has been snatched off in black Africa. The Indonesians have booted out such would-be imperialists as the Dutch. The French, who felt for a century that Algeria was theirs, have had to run for their lives back to France. Sir, the point I make is that all over the world, the old day of standing in fear and trembling before the almighty white man is gone!” Everyone around the world is free but African Americans were not, and Malcolm was saying, “shouldn’t we be free?”
Malcolm X had a different thought from Martin Luther king. Martin believed he could change the white’s system in America by peaceful protest. But Malcolm believed African Americans had a right to have rights, not just using peaceful protest but can also use violence to solve their problems. Even though many people disagree of Malcolm’s choice, it was still one way that could be possible to change the whites system.
In conclusion, Malcolm X believed he could change the structure that the whites build in America. .His history shows us how much he wanted civil rights for African Americans. Malcolm believed in Elijah, who said, “The whites are the devil.” Malcolm’s life changed when he gave the speech “the chicken comes home to roost” which meant he was not surprised that Kennedy was assassinated. He was “silenced” for 80 days and was kicked out of the Nation of Islam. His education did not matter to him. His experiences did. It gave him the ideas to act while others stood like a statue. His views of the white’s system also changed him.
