Marco Polo’s Life and Adventures

Marco Polo was born in Venice, Italy and he traveled to China with his Father and Uncle. When he was young he was always interested in merchanting.

Marco Polo was a famous traveler he traveled through the Silk Road to china and other places in Asia. Marco Polo was born in Venice, Italy (Venetian) and he lived through 1254 – 1324. His mother died when he was very young. His aunt and uncle raised him and his father and his uncle were merchants. Marco Polo had some idea about the trade of a merchant. His aunt and uncle had brought him up well. Marco Polo grew up well and when his father came back he decided to take him with him.

Marco Polo travelled to china with his father and his uncle at the age of 17. Marco Polo travelled over land to get to china. He was an ambassador for Kublai Khan. Marco Polo went to places in the Empire to check if everything was fine. He worked for Kublai Khan and the Mongol Empire for 17 years and when he got back to Venice, Italy he was 24 years and brought back many inventions and souvenirs from china. He also brought back many precious stones, jewels, porcelain and silk. He told people how some of the things Chinese used for example the compass and the paper money. He brought back many interesting things and ideas that contributed to the renaissance and the way people lived. Marco Polo met Rustichello (famous writer) and asked him to write a book about his travels. Marco Polo became famous for his travels through China but some Europeans still disagreed with him.

I think Marco Polo did a lot for the society especially when he went to China not only did he bring back lots of things but he also brought back a bit of Chinese culture. Chinese way of living and that helped strengthen Europe. They learned from Chinese way of living.
