Men are a Lost Course, and We are Proud of It!

A look at a modern gent from behind his eyeballs.

Men are a lost course, and we’re proud of it, well, somewhat..

Who discovered most of the known world? Was it a woman, boy or girl? I think it was a man, or men, since most did their own bits of discoveries. Aristotle, Galileo, Christopher Columbus, anyone? I think Noah qualifies for entry here since he was the first man to successfully navigate a large body of water in what was basically the world’s first cruise ship, cargo ship, luxury liner, barge and floating home-all in one. What’s left for imagination is what he used to put the ship together because if the history time line is anything to go by, nails and glues had not been invented yet. The man was a genius! Was he a sailor by profession or was he from a great family of amazing navigators, never mind ship builders that could hold at least two fully grown elephants, a couple of bears, anacondas, giraffes and wild boar?

Obviously, he was also a great game keeper, a peace maker who could keep ferocious Lions and humble goats in line, what a man! And to think he also had a family on board to tend to…mind blowing stuff. Sadly, his was the last breed, what you have left with is essentially a fragment of what kind of supermen used to be, heroes who in a city I live in (Gaborone, Botswana) could have built an amazing Segoditshane bridge without the help of any Chinese civil constructors or the up keeping of the city council every five minutes, with a shovel and a police road block to re-route traffic on to the broadhurst 5 and 2 way. A circus that takes place every time it even thinks of raining, a few drops of dew and the bridge is overflowing! What a complete waste of time! An over flowing bridge means hell for the modern gent, one who is used to having everything discovered for him and laid out on a glass table for his enjoyment. But discovery is also a very illusive idea in this world. (No one can be absolutely sure that Christopher Columbus did discover America, because this is akin to someone walking into your yard while you’re out and laying claim to him having discovered your orange tree. It sounds a bit like historical ignorance and a bit of arrogance thrown in for good measure), but back to the modern gent.
