Rana Pratap Singh was Hindu Raj.

Mughal Akbar was Muslim Raj.

Akbar was a great Mughal emperor. He ruled over a large territory of India. Almost all Rajput kings accepted his domination. Only Maharana Pratap Singh of Mewar defied Akbar’s might and remained independent.

Akbar sent a huge army to subdue Rana Pratap Singh. Rana Pratap marched with his Rajput warriors. The two armies met at Haldighat. Rajputs launched a very fires attack on the Mughal troops and inflicted heavy causalities on them. The Mughal army was forced to withdraw. But after initial set back the Mughal troops regrouped and counter attacked. The Rajputs were for outnumbered by the Mughal troops. Most of them perished on the battle field fighting bravely. The Rana himself was surrounded on all sides by enemy soldiers. He was in danger of losing his life.

One of Rana’s Naiks, Jhala Man Singh saw that Rana’s precious life was in danger. He decided to sacrifice his own life to save his king. Without wasting a single moment he rode towards the Rana and took the crown off his head. He, then, put it on his own head to impersonate the Rana and fool the enemy. The Mughal mistook him for the Rana and killed him after a chase. Thus, Jhala’s supreme sacrifice rescued his king.

Such instances of noble and supreme sacrifice are to be found not only during war times or on battle field but also during peace time. Noble men never hesitate to sacrifice their own interests or even their own lives to safe guard the interests and lives of others.
