There is no doubt Muslim achievements have been very important to human civilization. Muslim’s have made achievements in mathematics, astronomy, physics, technology, and architecture are only some of the areas of Muslim achievements. Most of their achievements get credited to other people.

Here are some great Muslim’s mathematicians and their achievements. Mohammad Al Khwarazmi is considered to be one of the founders of Algebra and is one of the most influential Muslim Mathematicians. The word algorithm is said to be a corruption of his last name. Another great Islamic mathematician was Al Battani. He excelled greatly in trigonometry. Did you know it was Muslims used variables before other civilizations even knew about them. One misconception though, is that the so called Arabic numerals were invented by Hindu’s.

Here are some Muslim contributions to astronomy. Apart from making the first astrolabes invented by Al-Zarqali the Muslim’s did much more for astronomy. It was a Persian astronomer who first discovered the famous Andromeda galaxy in the 900’s. In fact astronomy has so much importance to Islam that a crescent moon is an Islamic holy symbol.

Here are some great Muslim inventions. One Muslim inventor constructed and tested a flying machine, 500 years before Da Vinci. The Muslim’s were also the first civilization to make a working time keeper. Muslim’s also had the first insane asylums which were commonly used by Muslim cities in medieval times. Muslim’s also served as mediators. They mediated paper and gunpowder from China to Europe.

Another contribution Muslim’s had was their architecture. There most famous building is the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is considered one of the eight wonders of the world. It’s architectural beauty never was surpassed. It was completed in 1648 and cost 32 million Rupees. The master architect was Ustad “Isa a famous Muslim architect. The Taj Mahal is actually a mausoleum.

As you can see Islamic achievements have affected Human Civilization greatly. Many people discredit them but they were a very advanced civilization at their peak.
