My Tsunami Story
This article is dedicated to my late brother-in-law Faiz Yoosoof, my beloved sister Zehana, Son Iqbal, and daughter Ilma. May the Almighty Allah shower his choicest blessings to your family for the rest of this lifetime.

The events of 26th December 2004 sure did spark worldwide grief in abundance but the crux of the irony can only be best understood when disaster strikes close to heart. Cruelty had no identification when it beckoned too early subjecting a tragic end to the life of my brother-in-law, along with many hundred’s of thousands of others. It was destiny that took my sister and her family to Hambantota, situated in the southern part of Sri Lanka, and little did they realize of the fate that was waiting on them. It’s true that we don’t know what we’ve got until it’s gone. But it’s also true that we don’t know what we’ve been missing until it arrives. Left behind with a teenage son and daughter to tend and care for, to you my sister I say do believe in, ‘’To the questions of your life, you are the only answer. To the problems of your life, you are the only solution’’. Keeping a smile on your face, when inside you feel like dying, for the sake of supporting your beloved children, and that means strength. Courage is standing for what you believe in amidst the ruins regardless of the odds against you, and the pressure that tends to tear at your resistance. Holding your head high and being the best you know you can be when life seems to fall apart at your feet, facing each and every difficulty with the sheer confidence that time will bring you a better tomorrow, never giving up. There is a friend in almighty the God above, the one who will help you and your children discover the wisdom hidden to be learnt within your tragic experience. No doubt there would be umpteenth moments in your life ahead when you as a family would miss him so much…that you would want to pick him from your dreams and hug away. In his lifetime he literally made everyone around break into fits of laughter but when he had to go away, it is he who was smiling leaving everyone of us around weeping. The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. He sure did and so must you now !!!!
