Nalanda: India’s First Years

Nalanda is currently a college visited by various students throughout Asia.

From what I might deduce Gupta Dynasty marked the first times of the Gupta Empire. At first in list, maybe as the name of both the Empire and the Dynasty, the First Emperor was Named Gupta. Gupta’s had a son; his name might have been Ghatokacha. That’s what historians suppose but from what we know the first Emperor was Chandragupta I, he ruled until the mid 4th Century CE. From there the Empire started near the Ganges River, and stayed there until the Emperor died. Chandragupta I’s son, Sumudragupta, expanded the territory throughout the southeast of Asia. We can see how the Empire ended at the end of the 4th Century.

In the Gupta Empire we know that the Emperor Kamaragupta founded a Fine Arts College were we now know as Nalanda. That Fine Arts College was founded in the mid 1st Century CE. Later in the 700 CE the Pala Dynasty founded another College near this one. From what we know the current Nalanda was rebuilt in the 11th Century since by the end of the 9th Century Barbarians had destroyed both of the learning centers. Today Nalanda is visited by thousands of students around Asia.

India marked a step for the first educational institute. We know that in China you were homeschooled in those times. Also we might find Nalanda a big step in Asia because India is starting to advance into forces of civilization. Many Hindu groups were nomads in those times and as this might be the first non-nomadic community India is starting to develop.
