“Our Minds are Trapped in The Epoch of Slavery”

I am disillusioned with the policies of the politicians, both Labour and Conservative.

I am disillusioned with the expediency policies of the politicians, both Labour and Conservative (having no experience of the Liberals and no wish to do so).  I am disillusioned by the lack of unity, the lack of discipline, the lack of cohesion and determination by African and Caribbean people to move forward.

I join those others who have given the greatest part of their lives in the struggle for decency and respect.  Recognition for our contribution has been long overdue not only for the country we now live in but for the regime our fore-fathers and fore-mothers have died in their millions to build.

The cities of England, such as Central London, the Docklands areas, Liverpool and Bristol have been built on the sweat, toil and blood of our fore-bearers.

The reasons for my disillusionment were a lack of knowledge of my people, the reluctance of my people to learn, the slave mentality which has governed and controlled us leaving our minds trapped in the epoch of slavery.

In the final analysis our real purpose is to build bridges, bridges which will lead to a true understanding among all communities, bridges which will put us on a par with other communities, bridges which will see that the racism within the schools, the judiciary and elsewhere will become a thing of the past, gone forever, lost in the epoch of our time.

All we ask is that those who are responsible for the Education, the Judiciary, Social Services, Housing and all areas of the community join with us, work with us to make this dream a reality.

A reality where everyone who was born in this country will be looked upon as English men and women, and not as Africans born in England or Caribbeans born in England.
