The often renegade daughter of Ronald and Nancy Reagan is raising eyebrows again with renewed interest in her playboy photos. The 1994 playboy cover shows the dark haired beauty posing nude with her breasts covered with the hands of a body builder type male, with a bunny tattooed on his muscular arm. 

Patti Davis, or Patti Reagan, is no stranger to controversy. It would seem as though she was always out to embarrass her parents.  More liberated points of view would hold, however, that she was simply being her own person, discarding stereotypes of what a Governor or President’s daughter should do or not do. She undoubtedly, danced to her own drum and many would laud her for that, but a Playboy? Who knew.

Patti’s exploits include living with Bernie Leadon, a member of the Eagles band. In her book she talks about meeting him two days after looking at his photo on a 1974 album and feeling they were going to meet. Two days later she recalls picking him up, or visa versa, in a music store and spending the day with him at a beach house and later, making love in his backyard with the view of the Topanga Canyon in the background. Ronald Reagan was Governor of California at the time.

The “wayward child”, of the Reagans, as she came to be known, gave the public much to raise eyebrows about. The daughter of the conservative Ronald and Nancy Reagan, became well known for  her liberal political views on anything from Abortion rights to Nuclear freeze, to her  use of marijuana. She replaced the Reagan name with her mother’s maiden name in 1994 and posed for playboy that same year at age 41.

It is hard to ascertain why the renewed interest in the Patti Davis playboy centerfold. One possible reason is that the playboy episode is now being revealed to the younger generation. Those who were babies when Patti Davis posed for playboy are undoubtedly fascinated by the concept of the  daughter of a United States President  as a playboy bunny.
