Plane Crashed in Reno During an Air Show:3 Dead, Dozens Injured-video and Photos

Plane crashes in Reno, Nevada

Three persons died and dozens were injured Friday in Reno, Nevada, after a plane that was part of an air show crashed near the public.

The plane, a Mustang P-51 from the World War II crashed near a tribune. Three persons died and other 54 were transported to the hospital in severe condition according to the director of the “Reno Air Racing” Association, Mike Houghton.

According to the local television station, Kolo, that quotes medical sources, the balance could be increased dramatically, local sources saying that 12 persons died and other 75 are injured.

The balance was not yet confirmed by the authorities.

“It was a massacre, like a bomb explosion. A man was cut in half, its blood everywhere.” declared Gerald Lent, an eye-witness of the event, quoted by Reno-Gazette Journal.

“We saw mangled bodies..we took an arm, a leg” declared for AFP Maureen Higgins from Alabama that is a constant spectator of the event for over 16 years.

The pilot of the plane, killed during the accident was 80 years old. The organizers said that the accident completely destroyed the first rows of the tribunes.

A video recording broadcasted by the American televisions shows the plane, a Mustang P-51 from World War II crashing near the tribunes.

A spokesperson of the organizers said that the pilot was at his second flight when he launched a help signal, before the plane crashed.
