Presdent Wilson Use of Propaganda
Propaganda.
There is many reasons to describe Wilson efforts of keeping the U.S from going into war. First is Wilson tried to bring both side to make peace because he thought the U.S should be a neutral country. The peace talk failed. When Germany attacked the U.S cruise chip he forgave them with a warning and didn’t attack. Also he wanted the U.S to be neutral. After time Germany started to anger the U.S and they declared war.
There are many tensions that led America to declare war on Germany. Here are 2 of them. Germany got u boats to surround Britten and anyone coming in or out if Brittan the Germans will attack. A cruse ship going to Britten with 128 U.S passengers got blow up by Germany. The U.S warned Germany to stop attacking there property and people. The 2nd reason is the Zimmermann telegraph telling Mexico to start war with the U.S and they will give them there old land that the U.S won at the Spanish American war. Brittan got it and gave it to the U.S and this made the U.S mad. These are some of the reasons Wilson declares war on Germany.
The United States prepared for war in many ways. One of them is having a draft for men ages of 21-30 to requester for the U.S army or navy. The second one is making a food admission to give food for the solders fighting the war. The third is getting weapons and started telling factories to produces ammunition for the military and they set the price. the forth is the U.S started selling liberty bonds which is a type of loan to pay for the army the U.S made 21 million dollars. Lastly the U.S made propaganda posters so people can support for the war.
There were some people who didn’t want to go to war. Some pacifists who thought all war was evil thought we shouldn’t fight. Also socialist who thought everyone should share money and property thought we didn’t want war. Because of this congress passed a law saying anyone who criticized the government gets arrested. Over 1600 men and women got arrested for breaking this law. These are the people who thought we shouldn’t go to war.
