Presidency Under George Washington
The lack of power in the national government of the United States of America.
The United States government under the presidency of George Washington, was consisting of people who contained large sums of power in their national government. The National Government of the United States of America at this time was quite strong, and people who had an office in this government basically controlled the politics. Furthermore, the Conservatives liked this because it lead to a strong head of power, the President, which was similar to a monarch, in the eyes of a conservatives, while certain people may have believed their new government was not like a monarchy. However, the execution of Louis, and the War, changed all of this. It altered all of this because it, turned France into a Republic. The people of America were ecstatic about the news of another Republic, but the Americans started to feel their government to be inadequate, and instead of only the select few controlling politics, the people started to control politics. This meant that the people had more power of their national government.
