Roger Oakden

Information from a gravestone in Liverpool, England.

I don’t know who this person was, but a gravestone with his name on, can be seen at St. James’ Cemetery, Liverpool, England.

Roger Oakden, died aged 46 years, on the 14th. November, 1835. His wife was Elizabeth Fleet. Unfortunately this old gravestone’s condition is deteriorating. Census information of great use to genealogists and still available today, generally, did not start getting collected until 1841. By then, it appears Roger had died. His wife maybe on there as a widow. Roger may be found in a street directory. The official “death register” did not start until 1837, so he had obviously died by then. A little information will probably be found on his burial record. Most, if not all, of the burial records of St. James’ Cemetery, Liverpool will hopefully be found at Liverpool Record Office.
