Russian Revolution Analysis

The Russian, or Bolshevik Revolution was a highly controversial event. Many historians argue over multiple aspects of it, one being, was the Russian Revolution successful.

After the Revolution was over, Lenin may have ended the war with Germany, but soon Civil war broke out. This civil war was a constant threat to innocent people throughout Russia. The civil war was between the reds – Bolsheviks, and whites – the czarist and capitalists. Soon Lenin’s secret police called the Cheka were introduced to the scene. They extinguished any non socialist ideas, which including silencing leaders of the counterrevolutionaries, using Russification, which included banning all non Russian culture from Russia to prevent capitalist ideas and ideas from the enlightenment from reaching the Russian people. In the end millions of people were killed. All over conflicting ideas that the revolution brought about. Revolution is supposed to be sparked by civil war, not vice versa.

Based on the events that took place. Many say the revolution was unsuccessful. This is because, most of the things that a revolution is meant to achieve, like food for a starving nation, a way out of financial crisis, and civil war, were not achieved; in fact they were made worse by the Bolshevik revolution. That is not to say the there was no good what so ever that arose from this revolution – but this good, came at to high a price.
