Of course when someone types in “The History of Sexy Lingerie” one gets the same links and maybe only 4 links to articles on the history of lingerie.
In any combination of the online word search of “Sexy Lingerie” or “What is Sexy Lingerie” any one person could pull up 10 pages on both subjects of over 1,460,000 links to businesses on the web that carry sexy lingerie.
Teddies, Thongs, bras, costumes, bustier, and the old traditional item the corset just to name a few items that are considered lingerie, but what makes them sexy? In history women have been wearing lingerie since the Greeks although they tried to make the lingerie out of light material to tease the men and through out the ages the lingerie would emphasize what was considered the 2 main features on a woman, that being her breasts and her butt. Although in the articles found, the only emphasis was on the history of a heavy contraption known as the corset which pushed up the breasts and squeezed the waist and in some cases the internal organs of the poor woman to make her shapely that too was adorned with lace, and made to tease the men but really not to the extent we have today. What made the lingerie more easier to wear and sexy was when they became separated from the one piece undergarment and when they added color fabric as a variety instead of plain old white. But still the 30’s brought back the emphasis on the silhouette and women were well proportioned.
Being bombarded with the different types of lingerie from the corset which has changed drastically over the years from some thing a woman is willing to put on to the complete body stocking, the emphasis is still on the woman’s breast and butt and still something that teases men. Today lingerie, still helps to turn men on, but is more for the woman. How she feels when she slips on the teddy or the stockings. The feel of the fabric on her skin or knowing in secret that her racy red laced bra has a matching thong. Even if she is considered a plus sized woman she still can wear the sexy lingerie of the day. However, today lingerie is also promoted to men as well.

I agree with the article, lingerie styles change through time, but one thing remains constant – women will always wear lingerie to look and feel more desirable, whether for her man, or for herself, and we will always be willing to sacrifice comfort just to look good.
