Short Bio of Dwight D Eisenhower

Info about Eisenhower.

Hello young lads, I am Dwight d Eisenhower formally David Dwight Eisenhower, but I changed my name because everybody just called me Dwight. Sorry about the croaky voice, when I was younger I smoked 4-6packs of cigarettes a day. Well, lets get it on with the younger years now, shall we?

Well, back in the day, I was in the Army. I actually commanded the U.S. forces in North Africa in 1942. Then, as luck would have it, in 1943, I became chief officer of all allied forces in north Africa, mainly in Tunisia.

In July of 1943, I successfully directed the invasion of Sicily and Italy, which was then under Nazi rule. I was called to England later that year to find out that I had become Supreme commander of the allied expeditionary force, which means, in shorter terms, I was largely responsible for British, American, and other allied forces in the area, and for the collaboration of land, sea, and air forces for the battle for Europe.

In December of 1944, I was awarded five star general of the army, and in 1945, I commanded the U.S occupation forces in Germany. In November of 1945, I became Chief of Staff of the army, and advocated the unification of the U.S. armed forced and universal training. I resigned in 1948, despite rumors of me wanting to run for U.S. president, to become president of Colombia University.

In 1952, I retired from the university and sought the republican nomination for president of the U.S.

With my promises to end the Korean war, I easily beat my opponent, Robert Taft, and served two four year terms.

At my farewell address, I warned the nation of a growing military power from Russia, which later resulted in the cold war.

On a happy note, in 1962 my very own library was dedicated to me in Abilene Kansas. That was a happy day for me, since I am such an avid reader.

In conclusion, I was never a healthy child. From my birth in 1890, I suffered heart problems, resulting in many heart attacks. The last one taking my life in 1969.
