Should Anyday be a Frumpy Day

It’s an easy work load today. No meetings means no face to face with anyone important. I can roll out of bed, and head into the office in my pajamas if I wanted to. Of course, pajamas is a bit to drastic, so I settle on sweats, and a t-shirt. I’ve gotten many comments on those pants, why doesn’t anyone seem to like them? I’ve been wearing them now for about two years, and they are my favorite “comfy pants.” I’ve had friends tell me, “don’t wear those pants tonight!” Or, I’ve been told, “wow, we haven’t seen those pants all weekend,” they say in excitement as though a miracle has happened. It never bothers me when they have things like this to say, because I do find it funny. I always like having these “dress down” days at work to wear them, so I am ready, and I head out the door. As I am leaving, I glance down at myself, and I say, “this is awful!” This morning was different! I was not OK wearing those pants, those shoes, or that jacket! I looked awful, and I felt awful! I walked the streets thinking about what I should do. My thoughts were, “should I go back home to change now? Should I leave work early today? I am never going to look like this again!” I have confidence in myself, and I never let others deter what my likes, and dislikes are. I take pride in my being me. Today wasn’t about any of those things. Today was about ME getting tired of “the look” in those comfy, but frumpy clothes. When I need to look my best I do so, but today I discovered that I want all of my days from now on to be my “best look” days.
