SIX of the MOST FAMOUS EXECUTIONS in the DEADLY REIGN of HENRY V111
Henry V111 was a King who would stop at nothing to get what he wanted.
- Queen Anne Boleyn second wife of Henry the eighth. Henry had grown bored with her. She was accused of high treason on the trumped up charge of adultery and incest. She was beheaded by a French swordsman on Tower Green, at the tower of London In 1536.
- Queen Katherine Howard Fifth wife of Henry the eighth and First cousin to Anne Boleyn was tried and found guilty of adultery. A letter she wrote to her lover still exists today. She was beheaded on Tower Green at the tower of London in 1542.
- Sir Thomas More also as known Saint Thomas, Was the first layman to reach high persuasion of Lord Chancellor of England. He and King Henry worked well together until More refused to sign the act of supremacy that would declare Henry V111 SUPREME HEAD OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND. More was publicly beheaded on Tower Hill, his head was then stuck on a spike on top of London Bridge in 1535.
- John Fisher, Bishop of Rochester also refused to sign the ACT OF SUPREMACY. He was the only English Bishop who had the courage to make a stand againtist Henry. He was publicly beheaded on Tower Hill, Tower of London, his head was then put on a spike on top of London Bridge, after a few days the head was thrown into the river Thames in 1535.
- Thomas Cromwell, Lord Great Chamberlain, created Earl of Essex. Cromwell falls from the Kings grace, when he arranged the marriage of King Henry to Anne of Cleves. The marriage was doomed as Henry did not like the look of his new wife calling her a flanders mare. Cromwell was beheaded for heresy by order of the King in 1540.
- Margaret pole Countess of Salisbury. Lady of the bed Chamber to Catherine of Aragon, and later governess to Princess Mary. She was much loved by Queen Catherine and her daughter Princess Mary. But was hated and feared by Henry lll as her family were the rightful airs to the throne. The Countess was arrested on a trumped up charge of treason. But never stood trial. This brave Lady was taken to East Smithfield to be beheaded, the inexperienced axemen struck her with the axe eleven times before she died in 1541, She was sixty eight years old. `
