Samurai Warriors, as a ritual before battle, would burn incense in their helmet so if they were be-headed during battle they would still smell sweet.

How They Tested New Swords
The Samurai Warrior tested their new swords by hanging their be-headed victims from a tree and performing 16 unique cuts systematically on the body.

The Samurai were loyal to their family, Overlord and Bushido (their code/way of living)
They were so loyal to their Overlord over everything else including family. To take ones own life for well being of the Overlord was known as a great honour. -

The Samurai People were of noble birth and had a great amount of wealth. They owned lots of land and rice and had their own servants. At a certain period Samurai warriors were allowed to be-head a commoner if they offended them.
