Sixth Sense

Some information about the Sixth Sense.

Intuition or Sixth Sense is the ability to know something without the use logic or reason. It is also said to be predicting/foreseeing something before it happens, or, it could be that feeling of knowing that someone is not who s/he seems without any reason to believe so and finding out later that you were right in your assumptions. Or it could also be that you had a good feeling about doing something and after doing it, it turns out very beneficial for you. So how do we explain this phenomenon?

The reason that intuition is also called our Sixth Sense is that it is now being accepted as a sense that we all have. It is also called “Extrasensory Perception” meaning that it is knowledge that we have without the use of our five sense that are sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. Its development is at different stages for us all. All humans have it but some people’s sixth sense is more developed than others.

A clear example of sixth sense is that when the Titanic set sail for first and the last time in 1912, many of the passengers had a “bad feeling” about the journey. And unfortunately, the Titanic sank, killing a large number of passengers. Another example is given to us by Kimberly Buffington, wife of Dennis Quaid. Their twelve-day-old twins were admitted to the hospital in case they had developed bacterial infections. When Kimberley woke up from sleep on the second day of her kids’ hospitalization, she had a feeling of dread about them. She felt that something bad had happened to them. When the couple phoned the hospital, they were told that their kids were fine when, in fact, they were not. They had been given an overdose of a medicine and had to spend days in intensive care to recover.

We can all develop our sixth sense in order to go through life with more success and confidence. We can avoid negative experiences or negative people and have positive experiences if we have a strong intuition. Meditation is said to be one of the best methods to build up our intuition. It helps to de-clutter your mind and free it from thoughts. Meditating for only ten to fifteen minutes every day can be useful in the beginning. You can increase the duration afterwards if you feel like. Just focus on your breathing while keeping your eyes closed.

In addition, keep a notebook with you and record and your hunches every day. Like if you have a feeling that something good is going to happen to you that day or a specific friend will call you that day and it does happen, your hunch has been verified. However, please don’t judge your experience. If you are not making the desired progress, don’t give it up altogether.  Also learn to distinguish between your emotions and your intuition. for example, one day when you are not feeling well or feeling down, you may feel that the whole world is against you when, in fact, it may just be caused by your particular condition that day.
