Talk Like a Pirate Day

It’s a day to pretend you’re a pirate and it’s lots of fun!

It happens every year and it’s usually in September. ” Talk Like a Pirate Day” is not YET a national holiday but one can hope. A couple of guys started the day a few years ago and when funnyman Dave Berry mentioned it in his column, it took off. Many have pirate parties and some come to work in a pirate costume. It’s a time to watch old pirate movies and the new ones too like ” Pirates of The Caribbean.” There is something romantic and mystical about pirate days. Stories of buried treasure, walking the plank, and of course pirate talk. Remember “Treasure island”?  Yep, a patch over one eye and a parrot–fake, of course, on your shoulder will put anyone in a pirate mood. So, arghhh, my mates, get in the mood for a visit to the good old pirate days this September! By the way, the two gentlemen above, John Baur and Mark Summers are the founders of this special holiday!
