The Aftermath of The Holocaust
The blood spilt in the Holocaust is stained into American history due to the lack of action this country took even though the United States vowed to never allow any future genocide to go unnoticed.
The United States has a moral obligation to prevent genocides and other humanitarian injustices from happening because our country is built on the foundation of freedom and Democracy. As a world leader, the United States should feel impelled to help others. However, we cannot expect our country to be the peace maker of the world and be responsible to react and solve every problem that we are confronted with. In order to prevent immoral acts from happening, the United States must make a strong and swift impression of our presence concerning the situation. By putting pressure and drawing attention towards a problem, other countries will get involved and a rational solution can be drawn up to deal with the problem.
Today, many people are creating an effort to reconcile for the lack of action that we took concerning the Holocaust. The United States made the mistake by choosing to be a bystander in both the Turkish and European genocide. By the time the United States decided to take actions on these genocides, it was already too late. Today, first hand testimonials are being documented into American history. It is essential that these stories get passed on in hopes of preventing such a tragedy from happening ever again.
