The Amazing Pyramids
The Egyptians and the structures they created.
Have you ever wondered about pyramids? They are so different from the modern world around us. The awesome power of the Pyramids is quite a site as they still stand today. Thousands of years ago the Egyptian empire rose out of the sands of Egypt; simple farms and small families transformed during the Pyramid Age. Over generations, small families joined together to make the most powerful ancient civilization in Africa and the crown jewel of it all the Pyramids.
The Pyramids were very important tombs or resting places. They were said to be the way the kings traveled to the afterlife. Once the king was crowned he immediately hired a royal architect to find a building site plan and plan out the details of the pyramid, and then get enough man power to do it all.
The king organized for the farmers to come nine months out of the year to help build the pyramid. People had to assemble little huts and lots of food for the workers. They had to do lots of work during the day. The farmers got paid for the help they provided; over half the people that came to work on the pyramids were crushed or badly injured, but the work continued on the Great Pyramid.
Transporting the supplies needed were something much harder. The heavy limestone blocks used to make the pyramid were very heavy. The Egyptians solved that problem by transporting the stone down the Nile River in boats. The stone was then brought to the work site and then roughly chiseled into a square. Then the Egyptians built huge ramps and 20 men at a time pulled one block at a time up the ramp. It was slow and backbreaking work but it was worth all the time.
When the pyramid was almost finished the workers pulled up a two ton triangle made of solid gold! The top piece was very important; it made the Egyptian Gods see in the glint of the sun on the golden triangular piece, and that would signal that the king had finally passed into the afterlife and he was dead.
When the king died the Egyptians believed that the king would have to pass into the afterlife in a very important way, so they mummified the king. Which is when the body is dissected? Then the king would be put into a wooden case that that was especially carved to resemble his face and looked like him. Then they prepared for the royal burial. It was sad because the body of the king was then put in a boat with all his royal servant sand possessions, and then went across the Nile River. When they reached the Pyramid, it was the king’s final resting place. The Pyramid was finally complete and used for the purpose of the Kings burial chamber.
The Great Pyramids were enormous structures known for their size, shape and beauty. Even today in modern times, they are the greatest ancient structures in the world.

it must have been really heavy lifting or climbing up high to chisel the rocks out, its quite interesting that people done all this by hand, no health and safety then, good pictures, thanks for sharing.
