The Courage of Our Convictions
Are you bold enough to stand firm regardless of what may come?
If you are going to paint a target on your back, make sure it’s for a good reason. In the time that I have written commentary,I have had my share of people who disagree with me. Nonetheless I live by the belief that one should stand on his convictions at all times.
Martin Luther King was targeted by the racist bigots of his time, Jesus was targeted by the pharisees of his time, yet both stood firm never compromising. I think anyone who backs down under pressure never held the courage of their convictions in the 1st place.
If you really have the courage of your convictions, no price will be too high to pay. I remember an account in the Bible where Shadrach Meshach and Abednego were thrown into a fiery furnace by the King of Babylon. Yet they never compromised, they stood firm in worshipping the God of Israel rather than idols.
They knew what men such as the Babylonian king could do, yet they were unafraid. Man can and may destroy the body, but God preserves the soul. In Shadrach,Meshach, and Abednego’s case God saved them from the furnace.
I guess the point I am making here is that no matter what people may say about me, or do to me, I will stand firm. As long as I breathe I will never compromise or back down if I hold a strong conviction on a subject. I will have some people that love me, and others that hate me, but at the end of the day I will give account to God alone for how I have lived and what I have said.
