The Creation of the Earth
Two cultures’ and one religion’s explanations on the creation of the earth.
The earth’s creation is a very interesting topic, for many civilisations have answers to how the earth was formed and how the people have arrived on this planet. The ancient Greeks and Romans, Chinese, Aborigines and others have come up with ideas. Everyone has their own ideas, but here are the most popular ideas we believe in.
Greeks and Romans
According to the Greeks and Romans, the universe contained only chaos, objects and forms without life and without organisation before creation. But one god saw to resolve this matter, so he/she separated the forces of heaven and earth, cold and hot and the things clashing against each other in the previous chaos. So the god separated the elements and grouped them together to form the earth. And seeing his/her creation, decided to give animals to the earth, and to give a master to all these things, he/she created man. Man was virtuous for a while, but soon, the humans changed to other more greedy, lazy and treacherous people. So the gods decided to destroy his/her creation, and got fellow gods to cause a big flood to kill all the humans. The flood came, and soon, there were only two humans, one male, and one female left.
But the gods ceased all flooding when they saw these two, who were worshippers and pure to the gods. They saw the lifeless form of the earth after the flood. It was bare and with no life left. But the gods told them advice on how to rebuild. They listened, and were told to throw around their mother’s bones. They thought of how ridiculous this was, so they thought for a while and discovered the gods actually meant: to throw around the mother Earth’s bones, the stones on the ground. They threw around some stones, and amazingly, man and woman came from the rocks they threw.
Christian
The Christians believe in the 7 day creation of the Earth. God was said to of created the earth in the beginning. The first day of creation was God allowing light onto the earth. The second was the separation of the super thick water vapour that was around the earth. This created oceans and dry land. The third day allowed plants to grow. The fourth day was creating the stars and moon, to use for tracking the time. The fifth day, birds were introduced to the earth. The sixth day, animals and man were introduced. And the last day was a period of rest for God, for he was tired, and this was called the Sabbath day.
Aborigine
Time was said to have started when sprits awoke and came through the atmosphere of the earth. The sun rose with them, and the spirits took forms: of kangaroos, emus, humans and other animals. After their wake, they shaped the earth, forming the landscape. They roamed the earth, but were soon tired, so they either sunk to the ground or took shape of objects like trees and rocks, but man was left to tend to the earth.
These only explain briefly about only some of the creation theories. Others may have different or more detailed things to add, but in order to find these out, further research is necessary. Its unlikely man will ever find out the truth, but maybe one of these things did happen? There could be more evidence, but that will come in a very long time away, so people are just left to wonder about it in the time being.
