The Daylight Went Black
Young soldiers…
It was almost like an extreme confession,
the soldiers fell easily into fatigue
and depression,
even during the battle,
the summer wore on
perversely calm,
and beautiful while the fuse
of human destruction turned,
and the fields burned,
family members at home would fear,
because the atmosphere was tense there,
they had to fight,
there was no choice,
then,
in a toneless voice,
but nevertheless frightened the soldiers,
the word was heard,
attack!
Suddenly, the daylight went black,
moist eyes serached the shield,
littered bodies on the battle field,
the men looked boyish,
and to win, they tried,
as death just multiplied.

This poem is full of rich imagery. You tell it in a way that makes the reader see and feel it. Good work once again.
I had trouble leaving a comment. I tried to open this page and it told me that it didn’t exist.

Powerful stuff, my grandsons have been in battles but they don’t talk about it. Too painful, I’m sure.
