The Decision to Drop the Bomb That Changed History

My personal opinion on Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima.

Many people argue that Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb was immoral and “a crime against God and humanity” (Nippon Times) but in time of war death is, in every way, inevitable. War is a sick and sad part of our society and it’s horrible that we have to settle our differences that way, but that’s just how our world works. War is our ridiculous solution to our problems that we have with other ridiculous people and, sadly, along with war comes death. Life doesn’t come from war. Prosperity does not come from war. Beauty and the work of God do not come from war. But that’s just how our society works. So the fact that hundred of thousands of people died on those dark days in 1945 shouldn’t be a surprise to us. Death was going to happen. There was no way of getting around it. Whether it was their blood or our blood shed doesn’t matter. Death was bound to happen. It’s very sad that that’s the way that it worked out but death was inevitable. It was a war.

The decision to drop the atomic bomb still remains a controversial topic and forever will remain a controversial topic but whatever your opinion is, you can’t disagree that it is very sad that it all had to turn out like it did. And what’s even more depressing is the fact that war is our solution to solve our problems. But that’s just how our society works so the dropping of the atomic bomb was sad but necessary and played a very important role in bringing the war to a close.

Nice, informative article, Garrett. This is such a sad chapter in mankind’s history, man’s inhumanity to man.
