This is a moment of pride and celebration, not suspicion. It is also a moment of national unity, not partisan advantage. Republicans have made a recurrent theme of the court’s questioning the patriotism or even Obama. Now, the Republican candidate in the elections of 2012 must be someone who has not participated in slandering Obama. This approach would exclude a number of current candidates, who should be ashamed of invectives and groundless that have addressed the president. It means that a candidate can challenge the actions of Obama in terms of domestic or even foreign policy. But Republicans must find a candidate who had the integrity to take trips away from opportunistic and paranoid.
Consequently, Donald Trump, Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann are done, and Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney would require a “recalibration” of their campaigns. The best prospects among Republicans now enjoy Jon Huntsman, Utah’s former governor and former ambassador to China Obama.
