The French Connection

France.

The French are our connection between the old world and the new.  Apart from the latent and eventually embroiled conflict between our country and Britian, the and Britian, the French were suffering a Revolution at the turn of the century.  As the great work of Charles Dickents, The Tale of Two Cities, illustrates, the sovereignty of France could not withstand the communist influs from Britian.  In the course of World War II the French and their allies found themselves in a like situation to the Revolution.  The Jacques of the Tale of Two Cities, communist insurgents in France, became the 5th Column or the Nazis.  A faceless, uniformed enemy from within grappled with France in both the Revolution and World War II.  The French cannot hide the fact that they might be the measure of the Free World on both sides of the Ocean.

The story of the Last Class on the boarder of Alsace Lorraine is sad but beautiful and it illustrates that the Communist or Nazi threat to the Free World is recognized in the breakdown of communication, respect, learning, integrity, and wisdom.  France being so beautiful is unmatched for the pathos of the struggle against the nihilism of the attack of the territorial islands that orbit London, England.  London, England opted out of the Christian Covenant of Europe and with the name of Henry the VII scorned their neighbors until with the direction of Eliabeth I, they heralded the nemesis that is the Jolly Rodger.

The movie, The French Connection, is a battle of one outstanding, heroic detective against the addicts of the drug war.  The Heroine War is all the war in the last one hundred years.  The detective wins out because the insurgents from a location in France give themselves away.  The French only tolerate these villians and their inablility to be assimilated remains obvious to the law here and elsewhere.

France is like a woman.  I wonder if this is true of all countries.  When she is troubled and unsafe she quickly becomes the focus of every effort of the authorities.  The French Connection represents a wisdom that we continur to look for in France.

The French have the legend of Nostradamus, a learned visionary that fortells the story of the Second Coming of Christ through the passage of hundreds of years.  Now that we, with the uproar of World War III, have found the grail, the French are looking for Nostradamus who was fortold to find it.  France is not only like a woman, it is like a very beautiful piece of music.  I think we will always be able to forgive France and in that, all of our neighbors, and forever remember what is dearest to us in time of great loss.
