The 1930s was one of the worst years. The Great Depression took place during this time. The Great Depression started on October 29, 1929 when the stock market crashed. This day was called Black Tuesday. The Great Depression was also called the Great Slump or the World Depression. Cities all around the world were hit hard during this. International trade was declined and so were personal incomes. Farming and rural areas suffered as crop prices fell 40 to 60 percent.

Herbert Hoover was removed from office and then Franklin D. Roosevelt took the office and came up with something called the New Deal which helped everybody get out of the depression. This saved everybody. The 1930s wasn’t all bad. The Empire State building was built during the 1930s. There were many technological advances during the 1930s like new air mail service.
