The History of Europe
Factors that made Europe successful.
After Romefell many new civilizations started emerging but they were not independent like they used to be. All of these were situated in Europe and because of the fact that most of the countries in Europe were allied it made Europe the new leading civilization of the time. All the quests were being improved: They had completely established the quest for meaning making Christianity the religion of Europe. The quest for order had somehow improved as well because kings made better laws and enforced order into their countries. Also they were improving everything from weapons to tools to everyday life. One important thing Europe invented which helped it grow was gunpowder. They used gunpowder to make cannons, which were spectacular siege weapons, and later on guns, which were used instead swords.
Not only gunpowder helped Europe to grow but also number of other factors. One of the most important factors was Christianity. This was because Christianity established unity form the people of Europe and also offered shelter and food to millions of people by letting them become priests and monks. The three main people who let Christianity rise as the main religion of the Middle Ages were Constantine, St. Paul and St. Augustine.
Constantine was one of the people because he was the first Roman emperor to let the people freely worship Christianity. Constantine claimed to have had a vision about Jesus coming to him but most likely he let Christianity be worshiped freely was because most of the people were Christians and that way he could get support instead of having to punish people who believed in Christianity, like all the other emperors did. The second man was St. Paul. He was the reason for creating Christianity because he successfully converted thousands and thousands of people by walking around and saying Jesus loves you. The third person was St. Augustine. When he was a child he was a very bad boy and he would often skip school to watch cock fights and even gladiator fights. He also married a girl at a very young age and then divorced her and left her with a kid who soon died. Even though he sinned he later wrote a book called the confessions in which he told an autobiography of himself and confessed and wrote a lot of other useful stuff for Christianity. This book was very influential and caused many people to convert.
