The Holocaust and Its Effect on Democracy, Dictatorship and Tyranny
Final assingment I did for a poli sci class.
In Political Science we have been studying Adolf Hitler, the Nazi’s and the Holocaust. In this paper I will give a brief biography on Hitler himself and I will provide my own opinion on some of the questions that have been asked by political scientists. One of the main questions (MQ) is “What would it take for democracy in Canada to be replaced by a dictatorship form of government similar to the one that evolved in Germany after the First World war?” This question, as well as many other questions will be answered in this paper.
Adolph Hitler was born on April 20th, 1889. He was born in the small Austrian village of Braunau Am Inn. It was just across the border for Bavarian Germany.
Hitler’s father was Alois, who was born in 1837. He was the son of Maria Anna Schicklgruber and her unknown mate, who was someone of the neighborhood or a poor mill worker named Johann Georg Heidler. It is sais by many people that Adolf Hitler’s grandfather was possibly Jewish. Maria was employed as a cook in the household of a wealthy Jewish family named Frankenberger. There is a lot of speculation that the 19 year old son got her pregnant and was sending her money regularly after the birth of Alois. Hitler would never know who his grandfather was. Alois Heidler would change his family name to Hitler, thus he became Alois Hitler. This was in 1876. In 1885, after he had many affairs and had been through 2 marriages, the 48 year old Alois Hitler married the very pregnant Klara Polzl who was 24 years old and the granddaughter of the uncle Alois Hitler. Because of the name change, she was his own niece, she had to get special permission from the Catholic Church. The Children from previous marriages lived with them. Their names were Alois Hitler Jr and Angela. Klara gave birth to 2 boys and a girl. These 3 children died. On April 20th, 1889, a very healthy baby boy was born. They named him Adolf Hitler. He was baptized in the Roman Catholic church. When Hitler was born his father was 52 years old. In the early days of Hitler’s life his mother was scared of losing him and had a lot of love and affection for him. His father was always busy working and spent a lot of time on his hobby which was keeping bees. Baby Hitler had been given the nickname Adi. In 1893, almost 5 years later, Hitler’s mother gave birth to Edmund and a year later came his sister Paula. In May of 1895, Hitler was 6 years old and he began the first grade.
