The Holy Grail: Fact or Fiction

Who knows what the much sought after holy grail is?

There is much controversy surrounding the Holy Grail, does it exist? And if so what is it?

If you ask this question most people will tell you it is the cup used by Christ at the last supper. Others think is could be the spear used to pierce Christ’s side on the cross, others that it is a piece of the true cross. But possibly the strangest of them is that the grail might be the head of John the Baptist. Some say it might be evidence of the blood line of Jesus.

Under this theory the phrase “holy grail” is a miss-translation abused by the Vatican as a cover up. Allow me to explain: In Old French, san graal or san gréal means “Holy Grail” and sang réal means “royal blood”.

Royal blood refers to Christ’s bloodline but the Vatican abused the miss-translation to make Christ out to be the Immortal figure the church sees him as today. Those who hold this as truth say The Holy Grail is the source of the churches power; it is the only link that makes Christ out to be mortal. Legend says that the Templars found the grail after the crusade, at this point there are different versions. Following the royal blood theory they blackmailed the Vatican into giving them sweeping powers. Others think they worshiped the grail. Either way we know they were suddenly granted insane powers.

Almost every person on the planet has heard of a holy grail of some shape or form, whether it is a simple cup or some artifact with miraculous powers it will continue to inspire many legends and stories for many years to come.

Your second article….. I must admit I am jealous of your writing skills. The Holy Grail is a fascinating topic – I wonder if Dan Brown’s book has helped or hindered the general public’s view on the Grail and its true origins. Keep it up! (I suggest you add a few more tags, like “religion”, “Catholosism” and “Dan Brown” to up your hits)

Great article! And very interesting. I’m writing a lot of articles about the Arthurian Legend (King Arthur & Co.) And I like this article very much. I’ve written about The Holy Grail too. I think it’s fiction, but It’s very interesting anyway!

Please check out my article about The Holy Grail :)
