Science, Technology and Medicine.

Before the industrial revolution, wool was mass produced as it was a good fabric for clothes and many other things. As the industrial revolution started, cotton became king.

Cotton clothing was lighter and could be farmed easily, it was easier to was and softer to wear.

In 1750-59 1.3 million kilograms of cotton were produced; by 1859 3,456 million kilograms of cotton were produced.

Science, Technology and Medicine

At the start of the industrial revolution Science, technology and medicine were advancing rapidly.

Plagues, such as the bubonic plague that had killed large numbers of people in 1665 had been eliminated with the unexplained disappearance of the plague carrying black rats.

Smallpox and cowpox were defeated with vaccinations and hygiene was improving slowly.

Technology advanced rapidly with new machines such as the water frame and the spinning jenny, the steam engine and the mill.

All these things helped the Industrial revolution carry on.
