Edison still worked to make the bulb even better. He tried different kinds of matter and tested about 6,000 different materials including a hair from a friends beard, coconut shells, card boards and many more.

Long ago, inventors and scientist tries to find a way to make a light with the use of electricity. They tried to make some bulbs but they use to burned out quickly and they are expensive to produce. Some of this bulb gives a bad smell, some have blinding light, and others give to much heat. Other bulbs used too much electricity which makes them very dangerous for home use. (splendia)

A great inventor on that time named Thomas Edison came and worked with the problem. Edison worked for more than a year before finally developing the bulb, the same type that we are using today. During his work, Thomas Edison tried different materials for the light bulb, something like a thin string that would give up a large amount of light when it glow. He did it finally on October 19, 1879. Thomas Edison turned on his newly developed light bulb using a cotton sewing thread. This light bulb glowed for 40 hours.
