The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Well its the same old wine in a new bottle.

The History of Mozart’s Epic The Marriage of Figaro in Poetic Form.

A controversial piece of satirical aristocracy,
But one of Mozart’s most successful works.
The overture is especially famous,
As a concert performance piece.

It was the first of the three collaborations,
Between Mozart and Da Pont.
The later ones being Don Giovanni and Con Fan Tutte,
With climatic speeches and Arias too.

T’was Mozart who originally selected Beaumarchais’ play,
And brought it to Da Ponte.
A liberato in six weeks devoid political reference,
In poetic Italian that, approved by Emperor Joseph II.

Figaro originally made a climactic speech,
Against inherited nobility.
He replaced it with an angry Aria,
About Unfaithful wives.

Mozart was paid 450 Florins for his work,
At the Imperial Opera company.
T’was three times his low salary per year,
As a court musician in Salzburg.

From everything that I have read about Mozart, his talent seemed super human. He sure did produce wonderful, powerful music.
